Rising Seniors: NC Immunization Requirement Prior to School Starting

Rising Seniors: NC Immunization Requirement Prior to School Starting

Attention Parents of 12th Grade Students,

North Carolina Immunization law requires all children in the state to receive certain immunizations. Make note of the following vaccine now required for 12th grade entry.
Beginning August 1, 2020, a Meningococcal booster dose will be required by 17 years of age or by the time the student enters 12th grade, whichever comes first.
One dose is required now for all students entering 7th grade
If the first dose was administered on or after the 16th birthday a booster dose is not required
Anyone born prior to January 1, 2003 is not required to have to receive the meningococcal conjugate

Meningococcal vaccines help protect against the bacteria that cause meningitis.

Students should provide an updated copy of their immunization record to the front office prior to school starting August 9, 2021.

Students who have not received the vaccination required by state law will not be allowed to attend school until the necessary documentation is received. Please take steps now and check with your healthcare provider for information on your child’s immunization status.
