High School Administrator
My name is Sheral Vang. It is an honor and privilege to serve as the new Uwharrie Charter Academy Administrator. I received my Master’s Degree in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke and my Undergraduate Degree from Pfeiffer University. I also obtained my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in Career and Technical Education/Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood.
I began my teaching career18 years ago to make a difference in the lives of children. I taught Business Education for 10 years at West Montgomery High School and served as the Future Business Leaders of America teacher advisor. While teaching at West Montgomery, I completed an administrator internship. Some of my leadership responsibilities were to assist in the establishment of goals and objectives for the school. I also provided leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating instructional programs. I provided leadership in teaching techniques, innovation and class organization. I also assisted in the process of interviewing, evaluating, and selecting new staff members. I helped shape a vision of academic success for students, created an atmosphere of caring and trust for both adults and students while cultivated leadership in others. I strengthened parent relationships by placing value in the students, encouraging personal growth, and celebrating student successes.
After my time at West Montgomery High School, I taught 7 years at Donna Lee Loflin Elementary as a Technology teacher and an Instructional Technology Facilitator. My leadership roles at Loflin included assisting in providing the leadership necessary to ensure that each teacher followed the standard course of study. I coordinated, organized, and facilitated professional growth activities in technology. I lead professional development classes to help teachers integrate technology and incorporate 21st century skills in their classroom. I also evaluated personnel and assisted in the determination of goals to improve performance. My leadership role as an evaluator has prepared me to provide teachers guidance on creating highly engaged lesson plans that incorporate project base learning.
As the parent of three children, I recognize the importance of a strong home and school connection. I believe that parents are every child’s first teacher and I believe that by working together, we can make sure each child’s social, emotional, and academic needs are met.
I am excited about for this opportunity and I look forward to making Uwharrie Charter Academy the best high school in the state of North Carolina.
