UCA Drone Class

George Kearns, a senior at UCA, was asked at the beginning of this fall semester to pilot our new Drone 1 course.  He has worked tirelessly to prepare for the Part 107 FAA drone licensing test.  Yesterday he sat for his exam at the Piedmont Triad testing facility and passed with flying colors scoring 90%!  We at UCA high school are proud of George and thank him for piloting this class and providing much-needed feedback to the instructor.  Congratulations George!  We are proud of you.  The Drone 1 class will welcome its first official group of students this spring.  With so much interest the class is currently full. At UCA high school, our Eagles earn their wings!

UCA Students Place 3rd in State!

Lillie Justice, Karsyn Brower, Madelyn Fesmire, and Makayla Robbins competed in the North Carolina Ready Set App competition this year. They created a prototype app to help students that struggle financially to receive donations to go on field trips and get school supplies. Over this past week, the judges from the contest determined that out of over 100+ teams throughout the state of North Carolina that Uwharrie Charter Academy's High school Team Eagles placed 3rd! The girls will receive a technology prize from this contest. Congratulations Eagles! We are proud of you.

NCHSAA COVID-19 Update | Basketball Championships & all interscholastic athletics suspended indefinitely

Thursday, March 12, 2020

CHAPEL HILL, NC – Due to the threat from COVID-19, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) has made the decision to postpone the 2020 Men’s and Women’s Basketball State Championships indefinitely.

“As much as we would like this opportunity for our student-athletes, coaches, and their communities, we know that ultimately any decision we make must err on the side of caution,” said Commissioner Que Tucker.

The Board of Directors also moved to suspend interscholastic athletics beginning at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 through Monday, April 6th, 2020. The NCHSAA Board of Directors will assess this situation regularly over the next few weeks. This includes all workouts, skill development, practices and contests.
