UNC-System Minimum Requirements
- 2.5 weighted cumulative GPA
- 880 SAT or 17 ACT **The standardized test requirement has been waived for first-year students applying for admission in Spring 2022, Summer 2022, and Fall 2022 ONLY.***
So, what to do if you do not meet these requirements and you want to attend college? Please consider private colleges, community colleges, or out-of-state options.
CFNC
CFNC is an excellent resource to assist students with test preparation, exploring careers, and planning/paying for college. Create a
CFNC.org account. If you already have an account, but cannot remember your login, come see Mrs. Rabb and she can reset your password for you!
Through this account, you can
search and apply to North Carolina colleges.

Common Application
When applying for college,
check to see if your school of interest accepts applications through the Common App. If multiple schools on your list are on the Common App portal, there is no need to repeat your applicant details for each individual college. Enter your information one time and use it to apply to multiple schools. Come see Mrs. Rabb if you need help
setting up your account! (Juniors are also able to set up Common App accounts to begin exploring the application but should not submit any applications to colleges until Senior year.)
College Visits
It's never too early to start visiting colleges and universities to get a better understanding of which schools may be the best "fit" for you. Remember, juniors and seniors are permitted 2 college visit days with prior approval from an Administrator. Pick up a form in the front office and come see a counselor to talk more about visiting colleges!
